Today we have discovered the meaning of Ownership & Responsibility, but as integrity is important in this context we started off by looking at our definition of Integrity.
Integrity; adherence to moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral character; honesty. Next session we will go in more detail.
Ownership; ownership comes with responsibility and means having rights, duties and an active in relation to the things that is owned. Ownership also
Responsibility; responsibility means that you have the duty to do something, and you own the process, the problem, and the result (good or bad). In our view responsibility comes with accountability; accountability is duty to report on the results and take ownership of that result.
The whole group has shared in different ways that being proactive is an important part of ownership and responsibility.
Other things needed to create the perfect basis for ownership and responsibility are:
- A clear definition of who is responsible to do what, in which way, and to have which result.
- A clear definition of accountability over actions and results.
- The authority to do the things that have to be done
- Doing things according to agreement, which means having clear documented processes and standards.
